I took a lot of photos and assessed some of the work that needed to be done, I will post the photos soon. There was about 11 inches of standing water in the boat, so the first order of busines was to get that pumped out and get the bilge dry so that I could see what I was working with. Both batteries were dead on the boat I brought my generator with me and used that to charge one battery and also set up a solar trickle charger from Bass Pro Shop so that the battery will be charged the next time I am there.
The boat from my perspective needs a lot of help as you will see in the photos, now it is learning where to begin and for that I have purchased 3 Don Casey books "Inspecting the Aging Sailboat", "Sailboat Electrics Simplified" and "Sailboat Hull & Deck Repair". I have a lot of reading to do so that I know what I am looking at when I am going over the boat.
I have never attempted to work on a boat before so all of this is new to me and as stated before I do not even know how to sail, it is always something I have wanted to learn so here is the opportunity, it may not be at the best time in my life to start this type of thing but if you spend your entire life waiting for the right time, you may never get around to doing it. Life is so short and I do not want to miss the chance to do something I have always wanted to do.
